Relaxation Tutorial.wmv

In this video, Genevieve is guided through a few techniques that allow the body to release tension:

1- The ‘sigh’ mouth breath: breathe in and out through the mouth. On the exhale, let a loud sigh out. Use the sigh breath especially during yawning. Your body releases tension as you combine exhale (and yawning) with your voice.

2- Tensing and releasing. The golden rule: you tense on the inhale, and release on the exhale. Try holding your breath for a short while on the top of the inhale, squeezing your muscles until they shake. Then release and imagine that tension dropping off you into the ground.

3- Scanning your body with your mind’s eye. Most of your tension is caused by the reactivity of the mind in response to events. The body scan ‘parks aside’ the reactive mind, and ‘installs’ the ‘Witness’. Keep an attitude of interested curiousity, and suspend the inner critic. Simply watch your sensations without reacting. This activity is great when you have insomnia. Even if you don’t sleep, both body and mind are at rest.

HBE Begins – Day Eight 17th Jan 10.m4v

Dance is not simply the art of body movement, Yoga is not simply the art of stilling the mind – the other more profound spiritual functions of these two arts are that Dance is to focus manifestations of Will, release and empower the body, mind & spirit, while yoga is to learn how to focus, heal and forgive the mind, body and spirit……. how did I ever miss the relationship between these two arts that are the polar balanced opposites of each other…. Just this realisation alone is worth its weight in pricelessness…..

Now I dance the art of releasing my entire being from the chains of the past and empowering my Will for the future… Goodbye my Immortal Beloved…. a man I once called & believed to be the love of my life….
