Relaxation techniques help you reduce stress and live a happier healthier life.</p>
<p>Anyone can learn to relax, it just takes time and concentration. Learning relaxation techniques help you: slow your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, slow your breathing rate, increase blood flow to major muscles, reduce muscle tension, reduce chronic pain, improve concentration, reduce anger and frustration, boost confidence to handle problems, and help you sleep better. </p>
<p>There are several types of relaxation techniques. Here are just a few:</p>
<p>Meditation or concentration. In this technique you focus on something. It can be the flow of your breath in and out of your lungs, thinking about making the breathing slower and slower each time. Or you can repeat a calming word over and over again.  You would usually find a peaceful place where you can block out any distractions.</p>
<p>Progressive muscle relaxation. In this technique you learn what the difference is between tense and relaxed muscles. You can work your way up or down your body, tensing each body part for a few seconds the breathing relaxation into it. It works especially well when you work through parts of the body that hold the most tension like the neck, shoulders and back.</p>
<p>Visualization. In this technique, you imagine or visualize a calming image. It can be a place or an image that helps you concentrate and relax. The more of your five senses you can bring into the exercise the more real it becomes and the more relaxation you can feel. For example, if you visualize a beach, you should smell the salt air, feel the mist from the waves, hear the crashing waves, and see the beautiful water.</p>
<p>Relaxation techniques take practice so be patient with yourself if you find it hard to concentrate on your first try. Continued repetition will make it easier each time and it will become second nature. Try adding a few minutes of relaxation into your daily workout routine for better mental as well as physical health today. </p>

<p>Video 3 &#8211; Why is Proper Breathing Important?</p>
<p>Even when you&#8217;re not in a work-out session, proper breathing still counts. Why? There are lots &amp; lots of reasons yet I have summed up the most significant ones into three important points: ONLY TWO.</p>
<p>1. Breathing is the most effective and time-efficient relaxation method<br />
Full breathing helps balance the autonomic nervous system. Deep breathing helps reduce tension and anxiety (and panic attacks) by sending a signal to your brain to slow down, which results in hormonal and physiological changes that slow heart rate and lower blood pressure.</p>
<p>2. Breathing addresses various health problems, from stopping pain to improving digestion. </p>
<p>Studies show that proper breathing into the diaphragm and slowing one&#8217;s respiration rate (breaths-per-minute) is directly related to numerous physiological and psychological states of health. Over 70% of waste by-products in your body are eliminated through your breathing and your skin. When your blood is heavily oxygenated, it becomes very difficult for viruses and bacteria to grow in your body. Good breathing supports muscle growth and energy production which affects your immune function and body-resistance. It is the increase of oxygen from correct breathing that creates a major effect on reducing your stress and anxiety and improving your overall health.</p>
<p>Proper breathing is the very essence of life. It is how our vibration works and why it happens. Breathing is the most important life function we perform. It regulates the heartbeat. Proper deep breathing is a natural way to increase the energy level and the enjoyment of life. It is the method we use to take in oxygen, which enables us to perform the activities of life and as a way of eliminating 70 percent of all the wastes generated by the body.</p>
<p>The practice of deep breathing exercises accelerates the intake of oxygen. Oxygen is the most important chemical in the body. It is a powerful stimulant. The body requires about 88 pounds of oxygen daily. Its main function is purification. Hemoglobin, the red element in the blood, is an iron molecule that is magnetic. It reacts to vibration to produce the oxygen carrying component of the blood. Iron is a positive ion and oxygen is a negative ion. Negative ions are attracted to hemoglobin. These are the most abundant substances in the body. Deep breathing recharges the hemoglobin.</p>
<p>We take approximately 21,600 breaths of air each day. The slower and deeper the breathing, the longer the life span. Rhythmic deep breathing is Nature&#8217;s tranquilizer and can be used to reduce stress and release pain.</p>
<p>Learn to breathe energy as well as air. The result will be increased electromagnetic flow into your body, which will bring up suppressed feelings. When you learn to open your breath and relax in the presence of your feelings, you align yourself with your natural healing flow of aliveness. Your awareness will be heightened, old behavior patterns will disappear and physical dis-ease will be replaced with health and youth. The reults are permanent.</p>
<p>Conscious connected breathing is communication with the source of life and a deep peace within ourselves. With proper breathing the physical body feels lighter, freer and we are clearer in our thinking. We will experience a more joyous outlook, emotionally we will be calmer and more serene in dealing with the situations that arise in our daily lives. During tense or anxious times, pause for a moment and become aware of your breathing. Breath slowly and deeply. With each breath comes an increase in peace. The key is to become mindful of the breathing process. The easiest way to focus in the present is to spend time consciously breathing deep into your lungs. Continue this practice until you do not have to think about the process, then it will become automatic. Conscious connected breathing allows us to live in the now.</p>
