Is the poor quality of life with mental disorders even worth living?
I’ve struggled on and off with depression and panic attacks for years. In the past few months my panic attacks have come back with a vengeance and it’s upsetting for me and my partner and everyone else around me. I cannot make other people understand what it’s like. I feel very unhappy, fearful for the next one, and unstable. I just don’t feel up to another round of going for free mental help and all the accusations that I’m a drug seeker that go with it. I don’t have insurance, and if I’m going to get help for it, it’s what I’ll have to do.
- Is the cause for your panic attacks & depression due to some incident(s) in your past?
- Do you get severe headaches & feel suffocated sometimes?
- Do you fear anything or anyone new or unknown to you?
- Does your horrifying past reflect in your thoughts & haunt you 24*7?
If yes, then maybe i can understand how you might be feeling.
Its very difficult to express yourself when you have been betrayed by your past. You start "loosing trust" in everything & everyone around you. You want to share your feelings with others but are afraid to do so. Right!
Getting a ‘mental check-up’ done doesn’t always work. You may feel better for sometime but its not a complete solution to your problems.
-> But way out is SHARE OR EXPRESS YOUR FEELINGS with others. Find someone who you can trust, who understands you well, who can sort you out. If you still feel that you cannot trust someone or no one would understand your feelings then express your feelings to yourself. WRITE A DIARY. Write whatever is blocked in your heart, write whatever comes to mind, write your dreams, your nightmares; those good people, those bad people; happy moments, sad moments. Write everything you feel like writing. But make sure to keep your diary in a safe place, don’t let others realize that you are writing a diary (or else, they may write to find & read it).
Really, you would feel relieved to express you heart out in a book. ALL WHATS BLOCKED IN YOUR HEART ALL THIS TIME WOULD COME OUT IN THE BOOK & YOUR MIND WOULD FEEL LESS BURDENED.
-> If you don’t want to write a diary, then MAKE A BUSY SCHEDULE, BECAUSE THE MORE ENGAGED YOU ARE AT DOING SOMETHING, LESSER YOU WOULD THINK ABOUT YOUR PAST. You don’t necessarily need to do a boring & tiresome work. You can do something you enjoy, take up a hobby. Sing, dance, paint, eat & merry.
-> ENJOY THE BEAUTIES OF NATURE. God has created such a beautiful world. If you are walking somewhere in garden or forest or anywhere. Just pause & stand there & look at the marvellous world God created. It would definitely bring a smile on your face.
-> THINK POSITIVE. You know you are good, don’t let negative thoughts make you feel bad about yourself. YOU ARE SPECIAL IN YOUR OWN WAYS. You just need to realize it.
-> Just fight your fears. BE YOUR OWN HERO.
Take Care Dear.
Keep Smiling ^_^
How to Find a Good Massage Course
For anyone wanting to get into the field of massage, there is an ever growing range of choice in the type and style of therapy work you could do. Being a massage therapist can be a lucrative career, but the choice of course is important in offering the therapist the widest number of career options. There are now so many different types of massage that you could specialise in, it makes choosing a course almost more difficult, so good research is crucial in deciding your career path.
Your first task then, is to decide exactly what type of therapist you would like to be. Would you like to work closely with the medical field as a physical therapist, helping those who have been injured due to accidents, and even this can be broken down to such categories as sports injuries, work injuries, etc. Though being a physical therapist does involve knowing many types of massage, it also entails knowing other forms of therapy as well, so training should be detailed and in-depth. A training course in massage therapy as part of a physical therapy course should be done at an accredited school; one that will eventually lead you to certification in many areas and be a stepping stone for working closely with the medical profession.
What if you are just interested in massage therapy in and of itself? Is certification still necessary? If you are simply interested in learning the techniques of giving a good massage, then certification is probably not necessary, and you may be able to learn through books, videos, non-credit courses, or by being mentored by a masseuse. If you are going to be charging fees for your massage services, however, then you will need to become certified and insured. In fact, to work in a clinic environment it is required. How then, do you find a good massage course that not only teaches you how to give an effective massage, but also provides you with recognized certification?
The first thing that you will need to do is check the rules and regulations for massage certification in the state in which you live. Though most regulations will be similar from area to area, it is best to know the details of where you live. Also, external vocational examining bodies should be able to give you a list of schools that can provide you with the type of training that should suit your goals and needs. After obtaining a list of schools that you feel would fit your needs, start narrowing down your choices by such factors as location, expense, length of training before certification can be accomplished, and possibly even graduate placement record. Check references, and make sure that all schools that you are interested in attending are themselves board certified.
Never discount the advantage of having a mentor in the field, and if you possibly can, try to network with different types of massage therapists so that you can get a feel for different types of techniques. Experience and diversity are key factors when it comes to attracting and maintaining loyal clients once you go into business.

What kind of options are there for a massage therapist?
I’m planning on becoming a massage therapist and I would like to know what kind of job options work out the best. I know I can open up my own place, I can work at spas, I can work in hospitals, I can work in beauty salons, I can work on cruise ships. The one thing I want to know most is which one would work out the best, I’m looking for all kinds of opinions whether you are or not a massage therapist.
At this point,it is a little early for you to decide where you would like to work. You haven’t been exposed to the various types of massage therapy or bodywork or manual therapy training available yet. If you are inclined to do relaxation type massage, then any of your suggestions would work just fine. I was introduced to massage therapy 26 years ago when my wife severely injured her low back. After 3 months of useless chiropractic treatment,a very talented MT/neuromuscular therapist fixed her in one treatment. I knew right then I wanted to work with people suffering with myofascial pain. After massage school and some advanced training,I worked for two chiropractors(thought I’d help make a difference) Well did I get an education in the workings of a chiropractic office. My sole purpose was to scam people into unending treatments, which I just couldn’t do. So my advice, avoid chiropractors like the plague! I have a private practice, treating mainly neck and low back pain utilizing, trigger point therapy, muscle energy technique, positional release, graston instruments, and naprapathic manipulation. Massage therapy is a fantastic way to earn a living, and the options are only limited by you.
