			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With the hectic life that most people lead in today&#8217;s world, reducing stress has become a vital skill.  With work stress, school stress, family stress, teen stress, parent stress, and a whole host of other kinds of stress continually knocking on the door, it has become vital to manage stress in order to keep up with everything needs to be done.  Though reducing stress is difficult, it can be done with a little effort and a little dedication to improving yourself.</p>
<p>The first thing to do when reducing stress is to get enough sleep at night.  Yes, there is always something that needs to be done and there are projects that need to be taken care of and there is always something that should get done before you go to bed and there is still one more television show to watch, but that is exactly the problem.  By spending too much of the evening worrying about everything that needs doing and trying too hard to get it all done right now, you are not helping yourself.  Rather, you are increasing your stress to an alarming level.  If you need to get things done, then do yourself a favor and just get them out of the way before you sit down in front of the television.  When they are done, then you can relax and not worry about everything that needs to get done after the show is over.</p>
<p>The next things you need to do are to eat right and exercise.  No, it doesn&#8217;t seem like taking care of physical needs with help with a mental issue such as reducing stress, but there is a connection.  After all, the brain is part of the body and when the body is working right, the brain will be more effective.  By putting the right nutrients into your body, you will be feeding the brain as well as the muscles and you will be able to think clearly and concentrate more effectively.  As well, when you are getting all your fruits and vegetables and whole grains, you will have more energy and be less susceptible to fatigue.  After all, fatigue clouds the mind and a cloudy mind is a mind that tends to wander.  And, when you mind wanders, you will not be getting things done.  Thus, projects and tasks will pile up, giving you even more to be stressed about.</p>
<p>Additionally, exercising routinely will help you keep stress at bay.  When you exercise routinely, you are more aware when you are awake and you sleep better at night, both of which are very good for reducing stress.  This is because exercise helps you release hormones into your body that make you feel better, both mentally and physically.  And this effect is not limited to the time when you are exercising.  In fact, these hormones stay in your body even after you are done exercising, so that you will feel better all day.  If you can, try to work out in the morning to get that hormonal burst before you begin your day.  Or, if you cannot work out in the morning, at least exercise in the early evening so that you will at least have a body that will be ready for a good night&#8217;s sleep and ready for the following day.</p>
<p>Another great technique for reducing stress is through proper time management.  Let&#8217;s face it, most people spend most of their day spinning their wheels as they move from one project or task to another, making them incapable of focusing on what they are doing.  However, with a time management system in place, your day can be mapped out in the morning so that you are able to complete tasks one at a time.  Then, with each little success, you will be able to feel the relief of knowing that there is one less thing to worry about.</p>
<p>Finally, you can help lower your stress levels by taking regular vacations.  The best advice is to take one week off every year so that you can recharge your batteries and face the world again.  By getting away and traveling, you can feel the relief of simply leaving it all behind.  Getting out of the house, the city, or even the country is an excellent way of reducing stress and, when you get back, you will come back refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to get back to the tasks of daily life.</p>
<p>By reducing stress, you can feel better, work better, be more sociable, and improve your health.  Stress is very hard on the body and the mind, so managing it should be a priority.  Thus, with a little effort, a little time, and the dedication to do the right things for yourself, you can keep your mind clear and keep yourself moving forward.  Then, once you have mastered the art of reducing stress, you will also have the pleasure of not having to worry about stress.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I had the pleasure of working with a Fortune 100 Technology company this month. A Director in that company wanted to help her staff reduce stress and be as calm and effective under pressure as members of her company&#8217;s senior management team. She wanted to help them accomplish more in less time and work more efficiently.</p>
<p>Toward the end of the program we discussed techniques to keep stress in check on a daily basis going forward. My final suggestion is to do something that feeds your soul each day.</p>
<p>After I finished describing this, the group&#8217;s Director said, &#8220;This should be the first item on this list. Please make this a priority and schedule a half hour in your calendar each day to do something that makes you feel good and reduces your stress. This is important for you personally and it will make you more productive and effective in your work.&#8221; (This is not verbatim, but conveys her general message.)</p>
<p>To be honest, I was a little surprised at how much this executive embraced this idea. Normally, in such a busy, top performing professional environment the focus is on getting as much done in a day as possible, not taking a half hour out of your day for yourself.</p>
<p>This executive knows something critical to success&#8211;taking 30 minutes to reduce stress and let off steam more than makes up for itself in increased effectiveness, productivity and creativity. It also pays off handsomely in a higher quality of life.</p>
<p>She knows the only way her staff will make this happen is if they schedule it in their electronic calendar. She encouraged them to schedule it at the beginning of the week and make it a priority, whether it is before work begins in the morning, during lunch, in between meetings or at the end of the day. I know her staff appreciates her proactive approach to helping them manage stress and become more effective personally and professionally.</p>
<p>In fact, after the program her staff reported the following results:</p>

44% increase in focus<br />
39% increase in how &#8216;in control&#8217; you feel<br />
34% decrease in feelings of overwhelm

Many people are so busy with their everyday lives they don&#8217;t realize how much stress can affect their overall health. The body needs a certain level of stress to function properly. For example, the body needs to have a certain level of stress to react to a situation that can cause physical harm. However, having too much stress can have devastating results on the body.</p>
<p>Too much stress can lead to problems with a person&#8217;s health and fitness. When a person&#8217;s body is overcome with stress it can cause the person to have high blood pressure, lowered immune system, and depression. Other health problems from too much stress are changes in blood clotting and sexual function problems. Having these problems from too much stress often leads a person to have even further stress and anxiety in their life which escalates their health problems even more.</p>
<p>There are certain things people can do to reduce stress in their life in order to improve their health and fitness. Exercising can help reduce stress. Many people often underestimate the power that exercising has on reducing stress. In reality, exercising is one of the best ways to reduce stress. Exercising works as a natural antidepressant to reduce stress and anxiety. Just by walking at a moderate pace for twenty minutes a day can help reduce a large amounts of stress. If people feel like they just don&#8217;t have time to exercise they can start by taking short walks on their breaks. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator is another good way to get in some quick exercise. Doing yoga is another great exercise to reduce stress. Yoga also improves concentration and sharpens the mind. Regular exercise helps people lose weight which often makes a person feel better about themselves.</p>
<p>Taking breaks is another good way to reduce stress and improve health and fitness. Taking short breaks throughout the day will help the body recover from stressful situations. Many times people think they are just too busy to take breaks, but taking breaks can actually make them more productive. During these breaks people should try and not think or talk about stressful situations. By taking these short breaks the body and mind will have some time to recharge from dealing with stress. Taking breaks often gives a person a fresh perspective on a stressful situation once they return to the stressful situation.</p>

<p>Use aromatherapy. Get a spray bottle and fill it with water. Mix in several drops of essential oil in a calming scent. When you feel stressed, take out the spray and spritz it into the air. You can also spray some onto a towel and hold it on your forehead or over your eyes for a few minutes. You will be instantly calmed and relaxed. Some calming scents to choose are lavender, bergamot, jasmine or sandalwood.</p>
<p>Stand up and stretch. Sitting in one position for long periods of time can make muscles achy. Stand up; turn off the phone, and stretch. Just a quick stretch or walk around your cubicle will make you feel renewed.</p>
<p>Have a hot cup of herbal tea. Take a quick break and make yourself a cup of herbal tea. Chamomile is a good choice because of its relaxing properties. Use two teabags. If you&#8217;re like most people, an aspirin in the morning and a couple of stiff drinks after work is sufficient. Or is it? Certainly, there are better ways to reduce stress and anxiety naturally. In this discussion, we&#8217;re going to take a look at some fun ways to reduce stress, anxiety and negative thoughts. Introduce the following 3 tips for controlling anxiety and reducing stress naturally into your weekly schedule and see if you notice a difference in the way you feel and react to stressful situations.</p>
<p>1) <B>Get Moving</B> &#8211; No, I don&#8217;t mean packing up the furniture, the kids and the dog and moving across town. One of the best ways of reducing stress and anxiety is exercise. Plain and simple! The trick is finding something you enjoy and sticking with it. It has to be fun. Let&#8217;s face it, it you don&#8217;t enjoy what you&#8217;re doing you probably won&#8217;t be doing it for very long. And doing something you hate has the opposite effect of what you&#8217;re trying to accomplish&#8230;it&#8217;s stressful! Now, there&#8217;s two ways of getting started. You can join a gym or you can simply exercise at home. Personally, I like exercising at home. When you do the gym thing, you have to consider traveling time ( unless you live next door. ) If you&#8217;re a busy person with very little free time, going to and from the gym can give you even less free time which is&#8230; well, stressful. You start feeling rushed and that is definitely not conducive to serenity. And serenity is what we&#8217;re after.</p>
<p>So, if you&#8217;ve decided on doing your exercise at home, the next question is: What kind of exercise? Once again, it has to be something you enjoy. I firmly believe you should do several different activities. To give you an example, every Saturday ( my day off ) I take a long bike ride. I look forward to it all week. Cycling is my favorite form of exercise but it&#8217;s only one day a week and that&#8217;s not enough. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I exercise right in my living room while I&#8217;m watching TV. I drag out the treadmill and do 45 minutes. I also have a set of dumbbells which I use on occasion, usually a couple of times a week. Getting any ideas? Of course you can do things your way. The point is: Get moving!</p>
<p>One more thing I want to cover before we move on: Dancing. Music is known far and wide as a great stress reducer. When you combine that with the discharge of energy that is provided by dancing, you have not only a great stress reducer but a mood elevator as well. You can do it right in your living room or even your bedroom. It doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;re a good dancer or not. Dance your way to a more positive, uplifting, less stressful frame of mind. It&#8217;s hard to think negative thoughts when you&#8217;re dancing.</p>
<p>2)<B> Get Creative</B> &#8211; Everyone needs a hobby. What&#8217;s yours? OK, I&#8217;ll tell you mine: Gardening. For me there is nothing quite as edifying as working in the soil&#8230;digging, hoeing, planting&#8230;watering. The only thing better is the harvesting! In the winter when I can&#8217;t garden, I read books and magazines dedicated to gardening and farming. It keeps my interest heightened and intensifies my anticipation of the coming season. What interests you? What keeps your mind occupied and makes you happy? How about woodworking, painting, cooking, scrapbooking or writing? Perhaps you are interested in something that requires a little less creativity like stamp collecting or just reading novels. The best diversions are those that require full concentration. I find writing to be a very effective tool in that respect. Writing requires great concentration which leaves little time for negative thoughts. Unless, of course, you&#8217;re writing about famines and wars which is something I definitely avoid. I think you get the idea here. You need to find something you enjoy doing that will occupy your mind. Then you will be able to replace negative thoughts with positive ones and the world will be a much nicer and brighter place to be.</p>
<p>3)<B> Get Away</B> &#8211; Sometimes there is only one way to deal with stress and anxiety: Get out of the line of fire. Pack up the family and hit the road. The possibilities are endless: Visit the mountains or the beach, go to a theme park, spend a day at the zoo or an afternoon at a quiet park. Broaden your horizons by eating at a new restaurant or coffee shop, or immerse yourself in culture by visiting museums and art galleries. Not the cultural type? Check out a sporting event or go to a fair. Spend an undisturbed weekend at a serene country inn ( that&#8217;s a great place for you and your better half!) or just have a picnic at a nice, quiet, secluded spot. Getting any ideas?</p>
<p>But if you absolutely, positively can&#8217;t get away, all hope is not lost. You can have that same picnic in your backyard. Or even a barbeque. Better yet, spend a cozy night indoors with your lover. Plan a special dinner complete with candles and soft music. Now, I know you&#8217;re getting some ideas!</p>

<p>Whether you work for a Boss or work from home, you are bound to experience stress in one form or the other. Stress has become part and parcel of the present day lifestyle. Stress can be caused by several factors when you work from home and hence a lot of importance is being placed on stress management to reduce stress levels in home based business entrepreneurs.</p>
<p>By organizing your work and taking corrective measures, you can certainly reduce stress but still there will be residual stress left which has to be managed by adopting certain measures so that you continue to remain motivated and your productivity does not suffer.</p>
<p>Taking regular exercises is the best way to keep fit and healthy. Feeling fit and relaxed can reduce stress. Some of the things you can do is to take a walk for about twenty minutes, the first thing in the morning before you start your daily routine. If that is not possible you can fit it in during your lunch break. Jogging, swimming and cycling are all good excoriates that reduce stress levels.</p>

Spend more time with the family and also socialize with friends.
