Mind Body Spirit Festival November 2009, Sydney

We visit the Mind Body Spirit Festival at Darling Harbour in Sydney, Australia. We also get to meet leading Australian sceptic Richard Saunders who many viewers may know as one of the judges from the Australian television series The One.

In the video you will see some testing taking place for a quantum pendant. Among the health claims made for the product are that it can help fight cancer cells, it helps to retard the ageing process and that it has the ability to destroy viruses and bacteria. Isn’t it great when you know that their stuff is “snake oil”? Reminds me of the travelling salesman of the wild west, now a days it has become more sophisitcated. I love it when a simple “test” for them becomes so hard, because their stuff is fake and they dont like the truth about their “snake oils and potions.. they dont work.

Thanks and I really hope you do come to the festival with Richard and Jo. Great people. A lot of people have the wrong idea about sceptics and I feel that Richard and Jo go some way to redressing the balance and showing what real scepticism is about :)

    I remember the …
I remember the early days of HIV there were “new age” companies that claimed that if you douched “Bitter Melon” every morning, it would treat HIV better than the pills. The doctors had people with terrible abdominal pains and horrible bowel disfunction, they got really sick. Bitter Melon should not be douched. Then there was injecting ozone. That was expensive too but never worked. But all demanded people go off their medicines. Similar people claim that AIDS is not a virus, this opens a market.
